On Saturday the City of New Castle hosted the 2024 Fireworks Fest, presented by Pyrotecnico, and the community came out to support en masse. Residents packed downtown to listen to music, support many local food and drink vendors and come together as a community.

The event was billed as a block party in the city with activities taking place along South Mercer and East Washington Streets. The focal point for most of the night was the great talent performing on the main stage located on the corner of South Mercer St. and East Washington St. in the heart of downtown. But the main attraction was the incredible fireworks display from New Castle’s own Pyrotecnico. The display lasted 21 minutes and included a two-minute grand finale as a nonstop barrage of vibrant colors filled the night sky. This was truly a show worthy of the Fireworks Capital of America.

Throughout the night, Neshannock Creek Brewery, Union Station Distillery, and VentiSei Winery all set up along South Mercer Street between the stage and a game area to provide local libations. The game area offered attendees a number of activities to keep busy including bean bag toss, giant Connect Four, giant Jenga and more.

The night began with attendees treated to a great performance by local favorite Grandview Soul, the Mo-Town inspired band played until 7 p.m. Following Grandview Soul was the high energy local band Kut Loose who played all the 90’s and 2000’s classics right up to the firework launch time.

The weather was perfect, and the energy of the night was incredible with people dancing on East Washington Street; kids playing games and having a great time in the Kids Zone around the Diamond; and people enjoying food and drinks with each other throughout the event.
